The Alyangula Area School and Community Library is a joint use library located in Alyangula Area School (secondary block). The majority of resources are shared.
The Community Library opens on Tuesday afternoons, Thursday evenings and on Saturday mornings for a total of 7 hours per week, but it's closed on Public Holidays.
The Library is a popular community facility and its selection of books for children, teenagers and adults are available for loan. A large variety of magazines are also on offer, including Women's Weekly, Home Beautiful, Modern Fishing, PC User, National Geographic, Money and many more, as well as a range of videos, DVD's (popular, children and classic) and educational computer CD-ROMs. |
Our computer, Internet, printing, fax and photocopying services are particularly appreciated by contract workers who are here on a fly-in, fly-out basis and short-term residents. Newly arrived residents and visitors often commend us on the good collection of books we have, despite the modest space available to us.
The library can order books from other NT centres if the required titles are not on our shelves, or for those who are studying externally. The prolific readers in the community find the Inter Library Loan facility a great value. An online catalogue is available, which can be readily accessed and assistance will be given by the librarians if necessary. This service is free, with the postage being covered by the Inter Library Loan Service.
