PC AND INTERNET ACCESS
WHAT EQUIPMENT IS AVAILABLE IN THE LIBRARY?
Alyangula Community Library has three computers, each with high-speed Internet access and word processing applications. A range of educational children games are installed on the network, but access to more educational CD-ROMs is available by request. Colour laser printing is accessible, as well as a photocopier, telephone and fax service.
HOW DO I SIGN UP TO USE THE INTERNET?
All Internet users must be members of the Alyangula Community Library. They must agree to the Library's Conditions of Use before using the Internet. The Conditions of Use form is available from the Loans and Services Desk of the Library.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Using the computers and the Internet is free. Photocopying, faxes and computer printing facilities are available for a small charge. Other paper sizes may be available if you arrange it in advance with your Library staff. Please consult the table below for a price list.

WHAT DOES THE INTERNET OFFER?
The Internet is a system of thousands of interconnected international computer networks that provide access to public information stored in databases all over the world. This technology is vital and an increasingly important part of the world's information resources. It provides access to the extensive range of electronic information produced by governments, the media, entertainment industries, sporting bodies, educational and cultural institutions, other libraries, and informal organisations of all kinds, as well as individuals. You can also use the Internet for on-line banking, checking and sending email, looking at newspapers, checking tide times, research - the list goes on.
WHAT ARE THE CONDITIONS OF USE?
Those gaining access to the Internet are required to take responsibility for their actions in the use of network services. The Alyangula Community Library Conditions of Use are designed to conform to the general rules of the Worldwide Internet etiquette. A copy can be obtained from the Loans and Services Desk and patrons are asked to consult them carefully. Activities relating to matters such as libel, copyight breaches, unauthorised access to other computers, or unlawful advertising are covered by exisiting laws. Actions that may be offensive to others are not permitted by the Alyangula Community Library. Alyangula Community Library does not have any viable means of monitoring the material accessible through the Internet and accepts no responsibility for any indecent or offensive materials that may be available through the service.
DOES THE LIBRARY HAVE A TELEPHONE AND FAX?
A telephone is available in the Library staff office for emergencies only. Faxing is available for a small charge of $0.20 cents per A4 page.
