About Barunga The Barunga-Manyallaluk Community Government Council services the community. The population is approximately 487 and is situated in Jawoyn land. The people resident there include the Mangarrars, Mora, Myilly, Ngarrbun and the Rambarrnga. The main language spoken is Creole and Jawoyn. Barunga is well know for its annual sporting and cultural festival attracting hundreds of visitors. The library is a joint use library with the Barunga CEC, which was established in 1982. The library has a collection of around 1,000 items that meets the educational and recreational needs of the community. The library has a collection of aboriginal resources. The Literature Production Centre contributes local made books to the library.
